- ¿Por qué defines tu próximo álbum como “el más importante de tu vida artística”?

- Porque así lo siento. Puede ser una sensación actual y pasajera pues en el pasado muchas veces sentí lo mismo. Sucede que, en éste caso, estoy encarando piezas de Astor Piazzolla y me emocionan de una manera muy especial ya que se sumergen en el fondo de mi alma de una manera diferente. Es la música de Buenos Aires y yo llevo una carga cultural gestada en esa ciudad. Tal vez en una Buenos Aires que ya no existe. Y eso es lo más conmovedor. Es viajar al pasado hacia un paraíso perdido.

- ¿Qué tiene de diferente grabar esas piezas?

- Hay una revalorización de mi actividad actual, cuando ya solamente soy un cantante de grabaciones porque así lo he decidido. En determinados momentos de la vida creo que es mejor ser una voz intemporal para escapar de las apreciaciones diversas acerca de la edad. Mi voz se mantiene bien y es mejor escucharme que verme.

Para cantar los poemas elegidos sobre música de Astor tengo que estar “en carne viva”. Eso lleva tiempo de preparación. Las emociones profundas no aparecen cuando uno quiere. Simplemente se presentan e invaden todo el ser.

- ¿Cuándo estaría terminado el álbum “Cosmogonia de mi alma”?

- Hemos decidido no poner una fecha porque será un trabajo lento. Recién estamos trabajando en las orquestaciones. Poco a poco le iré poniendo voz a las pistas y luego, al final se irán agregando algunos instrumentos.

- ¿Crees que después de éste álbum dejarás de cantar?

- No, de ningún modo. Pero voy espaciando cada vez más los nuevos trabajos.. Es conocido que he desplegado una labor increíble sin precedentes. Si la gente se ocupa simplemente de “mirar” en Spotyfy o cualquier otra plataforma para constatar la cantidad de álbumes que he grabado en siete u ocho años, comprenderá que otros cantantes han desarrollado esa tarea en veinte años. Por lo tanto, en el presente me tomo la licencia de trabajar con más tiempo para otras cosas.

- ¿Cuál es la razón por la que has grabado tanto en un tiempo relativamente breve?

- Las razones fueron varias. Primero porque apareció la inspiración de manera arrasadora. No podíamos parar. Otra motivación menos agradable pero que es necesario reconocer es que hubo momentos comprometidos de mi salud y corríamos una carrera contra el tiempo.

- ¿Sigues corriendo esa carrera contra el tiempo?

- No lo sé. Espero vivir tantos años como mi madre. Lo que está claro es que no tengo la misma salud que ella disfrutaba. Debo cuidarme mucho. De todos modos nadie tiene la vida comprada, al menos” ésta vida”.

- ¿Crees que hay otra después de la muerte?

- Lo que yo crea es irrelevante. Puede que la forma de vida que exista ya la conozcamos pero no queremos aceptar que sea así. Somos eternos si consideramos que nos transformamos en otra cosa. Si nos atenemos a la Ley de Lavoisier, nada se crea ni se pierde sino que se transforma. Pero los seres humanos somos demasiado soberbios y sólo pensamos en nosotros mismos.

- Why do you define your next album as 'the most important album of your artistic life'?

- Because that's how I feel. It may be a current and fleeting feeling, because in the past I have often felt the same way. It happens that in this case I'm dealing with pieces by Astor Piazzolla and they move me in a very special way because they go deep into my soul in a different way. It is the music of Buenos Aires and I carry a cultural burden that was born in that city. Maybe in a Buenos Aires that no longer exists. And that is the most moving thing. It's a journey back in time to a lost paradise.

- What was different about recording these songs?

-There is a revaluation of my current activity, when I am only a recording singer, because I have decided to be one. At certain moments in life, I think it's better to be a timeless voice, to escape the different evaluations of age. My voice holds up well and it is better to hear me than to see me.

To sing the chosen poems to Astor's music, I have to be 'in the flesh'. It takes time to prepare. Deep emotions don't appear when you want them to. They just show up and invade your whole being.

- When will the album "Cosmogonia de mi alma" be finished?

- We have decided not to set a date because it will be a slow work. We are currently working on the orchestrations. Little by little I will be adding vocals to the tracks and then at the end some instruments will be added.

- Do you think you will stop singing after this album?

- No, not at all. But I'm taking more and more time between the new works. It is well known that I have done an incredible and unprecedented amount of work. If people just look on Spotyfy or any other platform to see how many albums I have recorded in seven or eight years, they will understand that other singers have done that in twenty years. So at the moment I am taking the licence to work with more time for other things.

- Why have you recorded so much in such a short time?

- There were several reasons. First of all, the inspiration came in a big way. We couldn't stop. Another less pleasant but necessary motivation is that there were moments when my health was at risk and we were in a race against time.

- Are you still in a race against time?

- I don't know. I hope to live as long as my mother did. What is clear is that I don't have the same health that she had. I have to take care of myself. Anyway, nobody's life is for sale, at least 'this life'.

- Do you believe there is an afterlife?

- What I believe is irrelevant. We may already know the form of life that exists, but we don't want to accept it. We are eternal if we think that we will be transformed into something else. If we stick to Lavoisier's law, nothing is created or lost, only transformed. But we humans are too arrogant and think only of ourselves.
